Vishwajeet ‘Sapan’ was born and brought up in a small village called Tetary in Bhagalpur district of Bihar. Since childhood, he was into literary world and used to write and participate in literary activities. His father retired as Principal of G.B. College, Naugachia. who used to teach English literature. His father taught him to memorise poems and slokas while on the morning walk. It inculcated a natural reading and writing habits in him.
In the childhood, he studied in the village school and through competitive examination joined the then most prestigious school of Bihar Natarhat Vidyalaya, Natarhat (presently in Jharkhand). After 10th, he joined Delhi Public School, Mathura Road in Delhi and did his Science there. After that suddenly he got inclined to Sanskrit language and Joined Kirori Mal College in Delhi University. Subsequently, he secured first position in graduation and third positions in the master degree.
In the year 1994, Sapan joined the Indian Police Service (IPS) and was allotted the Andhra Pradesh cadre. He was later deputed to Uttarakhand, serving in various capacities. Presently, he is serving as IGP, North Coastal Zone in Andhra Pradesh located at Vishakhapatanam.
Sapan also served in the United Nations Mission In Kosovo in the year 2003-04 and was awarded the United Nations Medal of Peace. In the year 2011 he was awarded Indian Police Medal (IPM) for meritorious service.
He writes for more than several decades and his articles, stories are being published in several magazines and newspapers. He has also written several books, produced music albums and made documentary movies.
His official name is Kumar Vishwajeet and he writes with his pen name as Vishwajeet ‘Sapan’ for the literary world. Though mainly he is a prose writer but he loves poetry writing too.
